Europeana gathers datasets from cultural heritage institutions in Europe. Its goal is to make Europe’s cultural heritage available for everyone with an internet connection. In many Europeana projects I participated in small teams that proposed and wrote policy about Europeana’s licensing framework. After policy proposals are accepted I translate these into technical requirements and aid development teams in implementing these.
Writing requirements involve understanding how to translate the needs of the organisation into technical requirements. This involves being familiar with development methodology, group dynamics and judging the how technical rules work out in practice.
